Disability Services Standards

 

We provide a range of dynamic solutions to meet Disability Services’ needs.  A few of these are: -

Supported Wages Assessments

 

The Supported Wage System (SWS) is new, innovative and designed to provide durable employment options for those people with a disability who are unable to obtain or maintain open employment due to the effects of disability on their productivity.

 

The SWS was developed in conjunction with the disability sector, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU).  It is run by the Supported Wage Management Unit (SWMU) of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services, which has representatives in each capital city (details are on the back of this brochure).  The SWS operates within the existing State and Federal industrial relations frameworks and can be accessed in every State and Territory.

 

The basis of the SWS is its unique process of assessment of the productivity of a specific worker in a specific workplace.  The assessment process is designed to be fair to both the employer and employee.  It aims to measure the SWS workers productivity in comparison to other workers in the workplace who do the same (or similar) job and receive full award wages.  Once the assessment is complete, the SWS worker can be employed at a wage equal to the assessed level of productivity (e.g. a worker assessed as being 70% productive may be paid at 70% of the full award rate).

Jez Consulting’s team also includes an accredited SWS Assessor.  Jez Consulting offers a reliable option for Agencies who have either not previously needed a SWS Assessor, or whose usual Assessor is unavailable.  Assessments conducted by Jez Consulting adhere to a Quality Management System that meets the requirements of the Commonwealth Disability Services Standards and provides a systematic, quality assured approach to the assessment.

Certified Management Systems

 

A proposed quality strategy is a key element of the Federal Government’s plan to restructure disability employment support programs to ensure the quality of services and better outcomes for consumers.

The goal of the quality strategy is to ensure people with disabilities can seek assistance and support from a range of Commonwealth-funded employment services certified against the Disability Services Standards. These will be services that have demonstrated they offer employment support and assistance to people with disabilities to enable them to enjoy the same basic rights and opportunities that are available to all working Australians.

ü       Assistance with design of any new or revised forms required for your Quality Management System.
This involves examining any sample forms, etc. you may have, those already being used within your Organisation, and looking at other options Jez Consulting can offer, then combining them together as appropriate.  It also includes typing of the initial drafts, and supplying as a Paper document and as a "Word " document.

ü       Development of a 'Standards Compliance Matrix' that incorporates the ISO:9000 series standards & any relevant Industry Standards that may apply.
This would involve identifying any industry standards that may be relevant to your business, then ensuring that elements of your Quality Management System address all relevant requirements of the industry standard.

ü       Provide training in performing Internal Audits to a nominated staff member(s).
This includes training in the performance of Internal Audits within your Organisation, as well as outlining fundamental concepts of Quality Management Systems.

ü       Provide training to your staff in Concepts of Quality Management Systems & Quality Assurance.
This would involve providing on-site training some or all of your staff in concepts of Quality Management Systems and how they apply to your Organisation, as well as an outline of the Quality Industry & Framework in Australia.

ü       Assistance with selection of and liaison with Third Party Certification Body.
Jez Consulting offers all clients the opportunity to choose between a number of Certification Bodies; based on cost, recommendations and personal preferences.

ü       Assistance with ensuring your Quality Management System meets the requirements of the Desk-Top Audit[1] undertaken by the Certification Body.
This includes being available on the day of the Desk-Top audit to provide guidance and assistance (pending suitable location and adequate prior notice).

ü       Providing an on-going Maintenance, Administration and Auditing services for your Quality Management System.
Jez Consulting offers a complete 'Quality Coordinator' service to clients who are unable to supply key staff for the maintenance, administration and internal auditing of their Quality Management System.
